Welcome to my blog.  Everyone has to have the usual welcome to my blog blog.  It is customary and traditional so that is why I am doing it.  No that is not why.  I just wanted to say welcome.  I hope that blogging for me will be an enjoyable outlet of emotions as well as a place to share what I am learning.  I am approaching a new chapter in my life in the near future that is going to be very interesting and I think that I will have a lot to type about.  Maybe some people will read it and comment.  Maybe it will just be me blogging for my own sake.  All in all I don't care which way it goes.  But in the near future my wife, son, and I are planning on moving to Washington to answer the question many of us are asking.  The other night I was hanging out with some of the youth from Redeemer Missionary Church where I presently am interim pastor (until like July then I am leaving them, they are all made at me for that, jk.  But they say they will miss me which is encouraging that I made an impact), and I asked a question, "Do you guys like going to church?"  The over all answer was "no", which I was not surprised by.  The general reason was because it did not seem to be a productive way to grow our faith and to share the love of Christ with those aroudn us.  One of the guys said, "I know I want to gather but I don't know what that looks like."  I told him that that question is the one so many of us are asking these days.  "What does a church look like that is actually doing what Christ wanted us to do?"  To that end I have been reading "Pagan Christianity" by Frank Viola and George Barna (or really by Frank Viola with George Barna lending credibility, hahaha).  It has been a good read about how much of what we do in the buildings we call church on Sunday mornings and Wednesday night is rooted in pagan culture.  This has been a freeing read in terms of what I would like to do when I move to Washington and that is to focus on just living life and taking Christ with us.  Build relationships with people and pray that God allows us to see people join the Church (that is the body of Christ not some organization).  I am not moving to Washington to necessarily plant a church (an organization) but to maybe be a servant to help others join together and create a community in which we share life (including but not limited to our faith).  So, journey with me and hopefully I will faithfully blog my simple thoughts.  Nothing amazing.  Maybe something profound here and there (at least for me, but then again nothing is new under the sun).  I feel now that I need some kind of signature ending that I can end all my blogs with.  I mean in the Bible Paul had some cool beginnings maybe I can think of some kind of cool ending.  Like "May the Force be with you" (oh wait that is already taken).  But you know what, why push it if something arrives and stays it does for now it is just a simple bye. BYE.
